Dress for Action

Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said: Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me. Will you even put me in the wrong? Will you condemn me that you may be in the right? Have you an arm like God, and can you thunder with a voice like his?
Job 40:6–9

Dress for Action
Our Lord addresses Job once again and lets him know that He will make know to Job how He is so that if Job then still feels inclined to question Him then he could. In a similar way, God still speaks to us. Not in the audible voice that Job heard but through His Word. God comes to us and reveals Himself to us, so that we may know who He is. And so that there is no misunderstanding, He sends His Holy Spirit to enlighten us with faith to trust and believe in His Word. So know we can come to Him, not in self-righteousness but in humble recognition that in Christ we have an audience with our heavenly Father. His atoning death on the cross may it possible for us to approach the Father and speak to Him. In prayer, praise, and thanksgiving we dress for action as we bring our worries and concerns, our misgivings and doubts, as well as our victories and joys, blessings and triumphs. And we do so know God will hear and answer. We are freed to come to the Father no longer weighed down by the chains of sin, we are freed to love God and love our neighbor. We are released from the captivity of death and the devil and rest in our Father’s arms. “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery” (Galatians 5:1).
