Filled with Fury

19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with fury, and the expression of his face was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered the furnace heated seven times more than it was usually heated. 20 And he ordered some of the mighty men of his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. 21 Then these men were bound in their cloaks, their tunics, their hats, and their other garments, and they were thrown into the burning fiery furnace. 22 Because the king’s order was urgent and the furnace overheated, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. 23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell bound into the burning fiery furnace.

Filled with Fury

In the name of the Father and the +Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. The power of darkness does not like to be questioned or refused. The king was careless in his rage. He made a show of his authority. Little did he know that his authority had come from the God these three men worshipped. The power of Nebuchadnezzar against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego was great, but faith is bold and the Holy Spirit made them bold to confess their God and Lord. The consequences seem too much to handle. And they are too much for us, but they are never too much for the Living God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The material and earthly things seem too much to lose, but the glory waiting is far greater. In the face of opposition to the Word of God, these three men stood with God. In the face of opposition, God gave them his Holy Spirit. He gave them faith. He washed them in the blood of Jesus and made them his own. In the name of +Jesus. Amen.
