Mighty Strength

I will not keep silence concerning his limbs, or his mighty strength, or his goodly frame. Who can strip off his outer garment? Who would come near him with a bridle?
Job 41:12–13

Mighty Strength
There are many awesome and powerful things in this world. The description of the leviathan in these verses and those forthcoming describe a creature beyond imagination. One whose strength and power are unmatched today. It is a creature so fierce and mighty that no human could ever hope to subdue it. God continues to speak of the leviathan to Job so that He will understand just how powerful and mighty His own strength is. God has no equal and when we understand that it helps us to approach Him in a reverent and awe-inspired way. His mighty strength is so great that it could create and destroy the leviathan with a mere word. Yet with His strength, God did the unthinkable. In Christ, He set aside this might power for a time and humbled Himself to the point of death on a cross. And in what the world would see as weakness God showed His ultimate strength by defeating the greatest enemies we have, sin, death, and the devil. And in doing so Jesus reconciled us broken and sinful people to our heavenly Father. So our strength to live a life in a broken and sinful world comes not from us but from Him. We are given the strength to face the leviathans of this world because we do not face them alone. In Christ, we have a brother, an ally, and a Savior. As He tells us, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
