Inconsistency Results in Condemnation

If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it. For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty. For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
James 2:8–13

Inconsistency Results in Condemnation
When we transgress the Law, any points on the Law, we are really setting up for ourselves other gods. We have abandoned the living God for our own creations, our own set of circumstances, and our own expectations. When we break one point in the Law, we break the First Commandment. The One who gave us the first table of the Law also gave us the second table of the Law that we might know what he requires of us, what his will is for us, and how he delights in us through his Son, Jesus Christ, who kept the Law perfectly. Dear Christian, Jesus kept every point of the Law for you that he could have mercy upon you, love you to the end, and suffer your punishment for you. He gives forgiveness, life, and salvation that it can be freely given. He puts no measure on it. He lets the cup overflow. He spreads far too much seed. He is generous because of his love. His love has no partiality, and we live in it and freely give it. God is delighted in us because he is delighted in Jesus.
