Faithful Prayer in the Community

Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
James 5:13–15

Faithful Prayer in the Community
The Christian community is blessed to be together. Christ Jesus, who died and rose again, has gathered you together. He has redeemed you by the blood of his cross in order that he could gather you together in one as the children of God. We are held together solely by his Word. Faith asks God to teach us to pray. Faith receives from God the very Word of God to open our lips and to declare our petitions. So the mouth of the Church is opened to speak and it is bold to pray to the God that has united his people as one body. God tenderly invites his church to boldness, to ask him as his own dear children ask their dear Father. He invites us to pray, he commands us to pray, he declares that he always listens and that he hears the Church’s petitions as our Father.
