Rejected Stone
So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” and “A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.” They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.

Rejected Stone
The Roman civilization brought us many new innovations that we still use today. One such innovation was in building. The Roman arches have become a symbol of that empire’s success. And the most important piece of the arch was the keystone or capstone, in the above verses rendered as, cornerstone. This stone was the last piece to be set and it held the arch together. Get it wrong and the whole structure would come tumbling down. In this way, Christ is our keystone. In a life filled with suffering and pain, struggles and stress, with the pressure of the world bearing down upon us, we are unable to carry the weight. Our carefully structured lives collapse around us when we try and hold it up by ourselves. Yet with Christ as the keystone, the weight and pressure of a fallen world bear down upon Him. He takes the stress of a sinful world and holds us together. If we remove Him our lives fall apart. We are only made whole with Christ as our keystone. And on the cross of Calvary Christ died for us so that the building of our lives could be complete. Sin, death, and the devil were defeated and in Christ, we stand secure.
