Jesus Inspires

Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God. For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry. With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you; but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. For this is why the gospel was preached even to those who are dead, that though judged in the flesh the way people are, they might live in the spirit the way God does.

Jesus Inspires
This world is broken. It is easy for anyone to see. And in this brokenness, in our brokenness, it can often be hard to make sense of it all. What is the point, when the world and wicked men do as they please without any seeming repercussions? Why not just give into the desires of the flesh? Jesus did not die and give us new life so we could give into our human passions. He died so that we might be reconciled to the Father. And in His life and death, we are given an example of what our lives should be. We are to always reflect Christ in all our actions and live not for our own desires but for the will of God. Because even when we were given over to sin and spiritually dead, the Gospel came to us, and we were given life. The hardships and troubles of living in this broken world help to draw us nearer to God. When the material things are stripped away, we can focus on the things of God and in doing so draw closer to Him. In the brokenness of this world, we cling to the cross of Calvary knowing that the victory is already won.
