A New Day

And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

A New Day
The psalmist tells us concerning God’s Word, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105) And here again, Peter reiterates this truth. We see God’s Word shining into the darkness of the lies and misdeeds of the world, the devil, and our own sinful flesh. His truth scatters the darkness and reveals to us our salvation in Christ Jesus alone. And it is Jesus who will make the day dawn on that Last day of history when He returns in glory. The full witness of Scripture attests to this truth. And we can be certain because all of Holy Writ is God-breathed. None of it is the opinions or ideas of man but is indeed from the Holy Spirit, who carried the prophets and apostles along in the truth. Therefore, we rest secure in the truth and certainty of God’s Word, just as assuredly as we know a new day will dawn and the morning stars will rise in our hearts.
