Mystery Revealed

assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace that was given to me for you, how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly. When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

Mystery Revealed
There are many things in this world that are a mystery to us. They may never be made clear. But thanks be to God that He does not leave us in the dark when it comes to our salvation. Through His holy Word and Sacraments, our Lord reveals Himself to us. Our blind eyes are opened to see the truth of the mystery. That Christ our Lord died for all people, and through the Holy Spirit given faith, we are made part of God’s holy family. Christ crucified is revealed to us through the preaching of the Word. Paul received the Gospel from Christ Himself, including the commission to preach it to Gentiles. Though Paul received a special vision of Christ, the other apostles received no less spiritual revelation and commission through Christ. Though all Christians are holy before God through Baptism, the apostles and prophets are set apart for a unique office. And through this office, the salvation won for us on the cross is salvation delivered to us through means. Thanks be to God that He uses faithful pastors to deliver His means of grace to His people. May we ever avail ourselves of these precious gifts.
