You Died with Christ

If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations—“Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.

You Died with Christ
When you were Baptized, you died with Christ. Your sins and your shame and guilt all nailed to the cross. Your debt paid. No one can claim that you still own something for your sins. The cross takes it all away. Now you are dead to your sin and alive to God. That changes everything. The things that the world counts as wisdom are shown to be foolish in the cross of Jesus. In the resurrection of Jesus you are made one with him. You are made a child of God, not subject to new regulations from the world, but rejoicing in the freedom of  Christ's work for you. Rejoice and celebrate the feast with Jesus. He is your rock and your fortress.
