The King’s Urgency, the Lord’s Victory
19 Then, at break of day, the king arose and went in haste to the den of lions. 20 As he came near to the den where Daniel was, he cried out in a tone of anguish. The king declared to Daniel, “O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?”

The King’s Urgency, the Lord’s Victory
At first light, the king rushed to the lions’ den, not in anger, but with hope. Though he had been trapped by his own decree, Darius had spent a sleepless night, troubled by Daniel’s fate. But morning brought more than light; it brought resurrection-like news. Daniel was alive! God had shut the lions’ mouths. This scene foreshadows another dawn, when women rushed to a tomb and found it empty. Christ had risen, conquering death itself. Just as God delivered Daniel, He has delivered us, not from lions, but from sin, death, and the devil. The cross of Christ seemed like defeat, yet it is our great victory. In our own trials, when we feel surrounded by beasts, we do not face them alone. Our Lord goes before us. The stone is rolled away. The tomb is empty. In Christ, even the lion’s den becomes a place of deliverance.
