The Confession That Conquers Death

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” 27 She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.”
John 11:25-27

The Confession That Conquers Death
When Jesus declares Himself the resurrection and the life, He reveals that resurrection is not merely a future event but a present reality found in Him. Martha’s confession, “I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God,” is the same confession the Church still speaks amid the shadow of death. This confession turns Martha’s grief toward faith in the One who conquers death. At the cross, that victory was won. There, the Author of life submitted to death, not as a victim but as a conqueror. His resurrection is the guarantee that all who trust in Him will rise, too. In our sorrow and fear, we cling to the crucified and risen Christ, whose Word pierces through the grave with promise: life now and life eternal. Death no longer defines us, Christ does.
