Help in the Midst of Trouble

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You preserve my life; You stretch out Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand delivers me.
PSALM 138:7

Help in the Midst of Trouble
When they think they are already done for, when everywhere there is despair and no hope of escaping, then the Lord is present and helps them. In this way the Lord is present in the middle of the years, that is, He is the Helper in the middle of troubles and at the right times, as we have it in the psalm (Psalm 138:7). Job also speaks this way: "When you think you are done for, etc." He is teaching us in an eminent way all those things about the exodus of the children of Israel from Egypt through the sea, how they passed through the sea safely, although Pharaoh was pressing on and pursuing them with his entire army and they already thought they were done for. He gave them water out of a rock in the desert; food fell from heaven, etc.
