Christ’s Glory
For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,” we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain.

Christ’s Glory
Many religions follow clever myths. The Greeks and Romans had them a plenty. That is not the case for Christianity. When the apostles and prophets made known the great and glorious coming of Jesus Christ among us, they did so by recalling what they saw with their own eyes. Eyewitness accounts are important. The only testimony permitted in a court of law are eyewitness accounts. The Apostle Peter wants you to know that he was on that mountain of transfiguration. He was terrified by the great light and voice of the Father. And so also he saw the Lord Christ be baptized and be arrested. He saw the Lord be crucified and die. He spoke to the resurrected Christ. The Glory of our Lord Jesus is sure and certain for your salvation and life. Our God includes us in the things of heaven. There are no secrets hidden to us Christians. The Lord lays it all out for us that we would have faith and turn from our sin and live. Thanks be to God that he shows us our Savior, keeps his promises, reveals his love and grace to us, and gathers us to himself.
