It Is the Lord

4 Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5 Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” They answered him, “No.” 6 He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. 7 That disciple whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea.

It Is the Lord
They did not know that it was Jesus. He was there on the shore. We don't know the closeness of our Lord to the things of our daily life. He is with us in the Means of Grace promised. He has promised to rise after three days. He shocks the fishermen with a repeat of an earlier miracle. "Let down your nets for a catch!" They were not able to haul it in. Now we ignore his miracles and discount his work, yet he still is near us. He is strong to save and more ready to give than we desire or deserve. The Lord still comes to his people to forgive and give life. He comes to you because of his love for you. He justifies you before his Father. Rejoice with the disciples, "It is the Lord!"
