The Great and Awesome Day
“Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes. And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a decree of utter destruction.”

The Great and Awesome Day
The last Old Testament book concludes with the Lord’s announcement that Judgment Day is coming. For those who refuse to repent and believe the Gospel, it means utter destruction. There will be no second chance on that Last Day of history when the clouds part and every heart knows the truth of Christ and His return. It will be a sorrowful day indeed for those who have denied the truth of the resurrection and the salvation found only in Christ Jesus. But for those who fear His name, this will be a day of rejoicing. And just as John the Baptist called the people of his day to repentance and faith in the coming Savior, so too, today, God’s Word calls to us all. Through His Church faithful preachers week in and week out preach the Good News of Christ crucified. How great a message for us to hear! Our dear Lord Jesus, the Son of Righteousness, shines His light of healing grace onto us all, so that we may fear, love, and trust in Him always.
