Betrayal

3 Then Satan entered into Judas called Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve. 4 He went away and conferred with the chief priests and officers how he might betray him to them. 5 And they were glad, and agreed to give him money. 6 So he consented and sought an opportunity to betray him to them in the absence of a crowd. Luke 22:3–6

Betrayal

What it meant to be Christ was hard to understand. Jesus had to be betrayed into the hands of men, crucified, and then rise again. The disciples could not understand. Jesus had said that it was not good for the one who would betray him. The problem is that we all betray our Lord. We break his commandments, we run after other gods, and we selfishly go after our own pleasures. The battle for each person is real. Peter denied him and Thomas refused to believe. The sinful nature wants to lead things. The new man drowns him. By the grace of the Holy Spirit, we believe. By the work of the Holy Spirit, we repent and believe. God has given us a new life by the One who was betrayed by the hands of Judas. By Jesus death and resurrection we are made new. Sin occurs in the darkness, but truth and goodness happen in the light. Thanks be to God that we have been rescued from the darkness.
