No More Hostility

For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.
Ephesians 2:14–16

No More Hostility

What we meant for war and hostility, God meant for peace. The division our sinful heart created, Jesus united. What was broken in sin, Jesus made new in him. He is our peace. It seems so odd that one who dies on the cross is life. That in the hostility of his crucifixion, he would grant life to the world, but that is exactly what has happened. In his body on the cross, he has broken down all hostility, united us to him, united us to each other (to the church), and made us new and without spot or blemish. We have been reconciled to God by the death of Jesus.
