Eager to Serve

9 Now it is superfluous for me to write to you about the ministry for the saints, 2 for I know your readiness, of which I boast about you to the people of Macedonia, saying that Achaia has been ready since last year. And your zeal has stirred up most of them. 3 But I am sending the brothers so that our boasting about you may not prove empty in this matter, so that you may be ready, as I said you would be. 4 Otherwise, if some Macedonians come with me and find that you are not ready, we would be humiliated—to say nothing of you—for being so confident. 5 So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to go on ahead to you and arrange in advance for the gift you have promised, so that it may be ready as a willing gift, not as an exaction.

Eager to Serve
Generosity flows from hearts touched by the cross. Paul commends the Corinthians for their readiness to give and highlights how their zeal inspires others. True Christian giving begins with what Christ has given us—His life, His forgiveness, and His victory over sin and death. The cross transforms us from reluctant givers to joyful servants. Paul's reminder to be prepared emphasizes intentionality. Giving isn’t an afterthought or done begrudgingly; it is a reflection of the love Christ showed in dying for us. When our gifts serve others, they testify to the Gospel, pointing to the ultimate gift of salvation. Through the Holy Spirit, our lives reflect Christ’s generosity. We give not to earn God’s favor but because His love compels us. Just as Christ eagerly gave all for us, we are privileged to share His gifts with those in need, glorifying Him through our service. Let the cross inspire your readiness!
