Foxes Have Holes
18 Now when Jesus saw a crowd around him, he gave orders to go over to the other side. 19 And a scribe came up and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” 20 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” 21 Another of the disciples said to him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” 22 And Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.”

Foxes Have Holes
Jesus' kingdom is not of this world. He comes as a stranger and a foreigner. His own people do not know him. He comes with intent to save and to make new. He comes to preach. He comes to bring the Word of God to the world. He comes to die on the cross and shed his blood for you and me. Jesus is life for you and me. We who are dead in our trespasses become alive to God because of Jesus' work on the cross and his victory over death as he walked out of the grave. The dead can bury their own dead. The living follow Jesus. It is his Word that grants this life. It turns everything upside down.
